TMG 24th Anniversary Message from the Founder

It’s Time… ONE TMG!

A year ago, we began a strategic review looking back over our history since 2002, assessed our current business, the environment we operate in and charted our path forward for the next 20+ years.  We used a common business growth model to guide our thinking.

Stage 1:  Start Up – Turning Ideas into Reality
Stage 2:  Growth – Gaining Traction and Scaling
Stage 3:  Maturity – Optimizing and Stabilizing
Stage 4:  Breaking New Ground
Stage 5:  Transformation – Evolve or Decline

Our conclusion is we are in Stage 4 – Breaking New Ground for two reasons.  First, in December 2020 when the U.S. Navy’s Mr. Matt Sermon and Ms. Whitney Jones trusted TMG to take our proven Team Performance Improvement model and customize it for the US Navy, we became their “end to end/plug and play” Program Management Team.  After completing the 5th year of the US Navy Talent Pipeline Program, TMG has trained, coached, encouraged and recognized 618 Defense Industrial Base Employer Partners on improving the performance of their talent acquisition and retention systems, running a better business, and providing more capacity to support our national defense.  Second, the post-COVID Bounce.  TMG lost 90% of our revenue during early 2021 due to COVID.  While we lost the revenue, we retained the relationships which are much more valuable at the end of the day.  Strong relationships, the Team Performance Improvement model, and COVID exposing systemic weaknesses across the manufacturing sector created the TMG COVID bounce where today we have re-established our revenue streams with even stronger relationships.  Howmet Aerospace, Precision Resources, and Curtiss-Wright are now in long term partnership agreements.

Over that period TMG revenue and earnings have grown 4X, we have tripled the size of our team, and we have proven TMG can lead large complex programs that take the BIG Swing at the BIG challenges to the American economy… Team Performance Improvement.  In short, we have accomplished the graduation requirements of Stage 4 and are now ready to enter Stage 5:
Evolve or Decline.

We choose “Evolve” and the ONE TMG Operating System is our path to evolving and continuing our journey of consistent perfect performance for years to come.  We have refreshed our products and services while retaining our core intellectual property the Team Performance

Improvement System model; updated our Lead to Lifecycle Process; Re-aligned our organizational design with roles, responsibilities and career paths, created the infrastructure to support our growth,  trained our team on our updated ONE TMG Operating System, and formed an Executive Leadership Team of Managing Partners relieving me of the day-to-day operational responsibilities.

Since 2002, TMG has been fulfilling its “Why?”  At TMG, we help Leaders who WANT to lead, lead a High-Performance Team seeking PERFECTION.  We give Leaders the Courage to Lead.  As the Founder, I take great pride that TMG is also always seeking PERFECTION—leading by example so when our partners ask who else is successfully implementing the TMG Team Performance Improvement System our first response is US!

PERFECT is taking the time to understand the strategic intent, define the mission, make a good plan, resource the plan, teach the plan, execute the plan, adjust as necessary, overcome obstacles, work as a team, and accomplish the mission.  Do what we say we are going to do.  Pretty simple.  Mission First — People Always!

I am very proud that since June 2002, we have made money every month we have been in business except the 1st, we have never submitted an open bid proposal, 98% of our effort goes into delivering the services our partners pay us for, and  we have no rules except living our shared values and using those values to drive our decisions and daily behaviors:

1.  Do the Right Thing
2.  It is all about the Relationship
3.  Run a Good Business
4.  There is no such thing as coincidence.

What we do matters to our partners, American manufacturing, our country and most importantly to those wonderful people who come to work every day.

Very soon, we will announce the details of the TMG America’s Talent Pipeline Program as we accelerate the National Roll Out of the work begun in 2021 with the US Navy.  We proved the model works and is now ready for TMG to lead a national program across the American economy with multiple sponsors.  TMG has proven our complex Program Management leadership capabilities, and we will leverage that moving forward.   This national scaling requires the same disciplined, repeatable framework that has defined our success from day one.

This is what “Evolving” looks and feels like in a high-performance
organization seeking perfection everyday.
