Biography
Bill Miley’s career has spanned ten years in Construction and 30+ years in the Aerospace Industry.
While in construction, Bill worked as a Welding Engineer for Bechtel and Fluor Corporations. The most notable projects were the Trans Alaska Pipeline (Alaska), Sasol II & III Coal Gasification (Rep of S. Africa), San Onofre Nuclear Power Project (California), and Palo Verde Nuclear Power Project (Arizona.) Through his Aerospace tenure, Bill has developed specific expertise in titanium, stainless steel, high-temperature alloy and Aluminum Alloy metallurgy and manufacturing methodology. He has utilized lean manufacturing and six sigma methodologies as the backbone of his Business Management Strategies.
Throughout his 30+ years of Aerospace experience, Bill has worked with all major airframe and engine customers, including Boeing, Airbus, Comac, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, Embraer, Bombardier, General Electric, Pratt & Whitney, Rolls Royce, Honeywell, MTU, Siemens, Alstom & Solar. His career has taken him to live and work on five continents.
He also volunteers for Score, an organization that mentors entrepreneurs in their business start-ups. Score is underwritten by the Small Business Administration, with over 10,000 volunteers nationwide providing no cost business mentorship.
Bill held the position of President Novaria Fastening Systems as of July 2020 through August 2021. His responsibilities included Space-Lok, ESNA (Arkansas & Texas), LongLok (California & Ohio), Caliber, The Young Engineers (TYE) & V&M Plating. The products produced were Structural Bolts and Nuts, Specialty Fasteners, Drawing Parts, Bushings and Surface Finishing. Novaria services the Aerospace, Automotive and Naval Industries. Customers include Civil / Military Aerospace and Commercial/ Industrial OEMs and Distributors.
From February 2018 through March 2020, He held the position of Lisi-Aerospace CEO North America. His responsibilities included Lisi-Aerospace North American Manufacturing Operations (Torrance, CA, City of Industry, CA and Montreal, Canada); plus, the Americas and Pacific Rim Sales and Marketing. Customers include Civil & Military Aerospace OEMs and Distributors. Collectively, Bill’s career spanned 25 years with the Huck/ Alcoa/ Arconic/ Howmet organization.
HUCK: Bill spent ten years with Huck Fasteners; eight years as Director of Engineering / Operations Manager - Carson, California and two years as Operations Manager - Tucson, Arizona.
ALCOA: From January 2004 through 2011 he held the position of Alcoa Fastening Systems (AFS) Director and General Manager - Hildesheim, Germany and Nemesvamos, Hungary.
ARCONIC/ Howmet: From 2011 through 2014, Bill assumed the role of AFS Vice President and General Manager – China. From 2014 through January 2018, Bill was General Manager of Arconic Power & Propulsion - Dover Casting and Dover Alloy (New Jersey.) The operation produces alloy and investment castings of Nickel and Cobalt Based Superalloys. APP-Dover serves the Commercial/ Military Aerospace and Ground based Power Generation Jet engine markets. Dover’s specific focus is on single crystal investment casting technology.
Prior to joining Alcoa, Bill held positions with Parker Hannifin as Director of Commercial Flight Controls; Smith’s Aerospace as Director of Operations and Hexcel as Engineering Manager.
Bill earned Bachelor of Science degrees in Civil/ Structural Engineering and Material Science from University of California, Davis and holds a Master of Business Administration from California State University, Long Beach. He is a licensed Professional Engineer – State of California.
Bill’s been married to his wife, Lynne, for 44 years and has two children (Daniel, 39; Kristen, 37) and three grandchildren (Henry, 7, Cora, 4 and Liam, born April 4th.)
